THURSDAY'S WEATHER CHART. I
NOTES ON CHART.-Yesterdsy's chart showed that since the previous day pressure
systems had moved southward, but a changed configuration permitted southerly winds
to the Coolgardie Goldfields, with the result that lower temperatures extended to that
region from the south-west and southern areas. The northern and north-eastern sub
tropics were still within the influence of the monsoonal depression and high temperatures
continued there. Except for three points at La Grange, tropical low pressure proved un
productive of rain. while the southward movement of the anticyclonic belt appeared at
first to preclude the development pf southern low pressure. During the afternoon, how
ever, a section of the tropical depression broke away and moved towards the head of
the Bight. The further south-eastward movement of this area of low pressure should be
responsible for cloud development on the Coolgardie Goldfields and along the south coast,
with some showers.
