DEBATE
Mr. Eden Analyses
Soviet Moves
LONDON, June 19.-The former
Foreign Secretary (Mr. Eden) open
ing a debate on foreign affairs in
the House of Commons today, said:
"I see in Hungary the usual Com
munist preparation for rigged elec
tions. It does no good to British
and Russian relations if we pretend
to accept explanations which we do
not believe in our hearts. It is
utterly fantastic for Mr. Molotov to
say that the British and not the
Russians are interfering in "Hun
gary. Russia's refusal to supply in-!
formation has inevitably raised
doubts about the validity of the
charges."
Mr. Eden said that after the Hun
gary coup.ther was apprehension
about where the next move might be
---Finland, perhaps, or" Italy? There
was an immense fund of goodwill in!
Britain for Russia but it could only
be evoked on a basis of sincerity and
jmutual respect
