WOMAN KILLED. -
ELECTROCUTED IN HOME.
Current from Iron Cord.
With the end of an electric iron cord
grasped firmly in one hand, the body of
Mrs. Margaret Louise Dunlop (65), was
found in the kitchen, of her home at 31
Longroyd-street, Mt. Lawley. early last
night.
She was discovered by a 17-year-old
niece, who lived with her, about 615
o'clock, but it is thought that she died
some hours previously. When her niece
arrived home she found the house locked,
but this did not surprise her, as her aunt
was in the habit of locking the back door
because the catch did not hold securely.
The girl got a younger child to climb
through a window and open the front
door, and when she reached the kitchen
she was horrified to see her aunt lying
on the floor with one end of an electric
iron cord held tightly in her left hand
against her body. The other end of the
cord was still plugged into the power
socket.
The girl unplugged, the cord and im
mediately sent for a doctor, who ex
piressed the opinion that Mrs. Dunlop had
been dead some hours. There were severe
burn marks on her hand.
The Coroner was notified,,and he or
dered the removal of the body to the
Perth Hospital morgue.
On December 1, last year, Mrs. Dunlop
was concerned in a traffic accident when
a car she was driving collided in Ingle
wood with a motor car driven by the late
Inspector & Lewis, chief of the police
traffic branch, who suffered fatal in
Juries.
