THE TUGGERAH FATALITY
EVIDENCE AT INQUEST
Sydney, Monday.
An inquiry into the Tuggerah level
crossing tragedy in which the Rev.
Walter Marsh Herford was killed re-
vealed a startling state of affairs in
the railway service. The station, ac-
cording to the evidence, was in the
sole charge of a junior porter named
Keith Holland (18), with only 12
months' service. He had to balance
the books, attend to the trains, trim
and light lamps, and look after the
gates.
