BOMB FALLS FKOM 'PLINE.
PILOT GIVEá ÉVIDENCE
, AT KURUMAN INQUIRY
-Capetown,. June 3.
. A court of inquiry has been held into
the. ? fall of a bomb from an aero-
plane at Kuruman (Bechnanaland)
dunne- a review of military commandos
on May 28, when four persons were
killed and 32 wounded. j
- Lieutenant Joubert, the pilot of the j
aeroplane from which the bomb fell, j
when ' giving evidence, exclaimed :- i
"Surely I've been through hell. * It :
was an accident, and Ifwas an instru-
ment of fate. These people have lost
their dear.ones, and.I'll have to carry
this on'my shoulders for the rest of
my life. After the accident I thought
of crashing and ending the whole thing,
but the thought of the passenger be-i

I Sir Pierre van Ryneveld, Director of
the Air Sérvice, said there was an or-
der forbidding pilots flying over crowds.
