To Be Relieved

Tin- Lord Mayor (Mr.
Arthur Rymill) told mem
bers of the City Council at
?heir meeting vesterdav that

MTT (Mr. C. R. Moyes) had
isked to be relieved of his du
ties from February 1, 1952. which
;he board had under considera
:ion.
The Lord Mayor was replying
to questions asked by Council
lor N. S. Young on MTT mat
ters.
Mr. Rymill said' that Mr.
Moyes's present age was 70 and
that his annual salary as gene
ral manager was £2.250 a year.
The amount due to Mr. Moyes
in respect of accrued recreation
leave, long service leave and
superannuation benefits was
jn the same basis as the staff.
Appointment Terms
Cr. Young asked, -'Did ? .ttte
terms of Sir William Good
nan's appointment permit him
to devote part of his time to the
following purposes: — A direc
tor of commercial or industrial
companies; a member of Gov
ernment and or semiGovern
ment boards or councils; a con
sultant or adviser to other
Government or private public
utility undertakings?'
The Lord Mayor replied, 'Not
referred to in the agreements
and doubtless consent was given
on each occasion.'
Councillor Young also asked
if the terms of Sir William
Goodman's appointment per
mitted him to retain any fees
received for services rendered
outside his duties as chief en
gineer and general manager of
he trust, or if he were required
to pay such fees into the trust.
The Lord Mayor replied, 'No
record of what, if any, fees have
been paid to Sir William Good
man.'
On the motion of Alderman
Sir Arthur Barrett, the coun
cil decided that the Lord Mayor
be asked to re-submit Cr.
Young's questions to the trust
n so far as they did not appear
to be so amply answered.
