WHAT WOMENI ARE DOING.
Arts and Crafts Exhibition.
The Women Painters and Applied
Arts Society will hold its annual ex
hibition in Newspaper House art gal
lery beginning next Wednesday at
3 m. The arts and crafts section
will comprise china painting, pot
tery, rush weaving, leather work,
needlecraft (of which a special sec
tion will be the "Lorna DIone"
handicraft).
The exhibition will be open daily
from 10 ain to 6 pm until Friday,1
September 15, when it will .close at
6 pm. Intending exhibitors are re
minded that their work must be
handed in not later than 11.15 am
on Monday for pictures, and on
Tuesday, at 11.15 am for craft work.
The proceeds of the exhibition will
be given to the Merchant Navy
Fund.

at the annual meeting of the Bridge
town RSL Women's Auxiliary the fol- I
lowing office-bearers were elected: Pre
sident. Mrs W. Wheal; vice-presidents.

re. Mrs F. Ruck; committee, Mes
dames J. F. Smith, E. c. Walker, P.
Bans, W- Dusting. W. Campbell and
W. Jones. During the year 58 Christmas
parcels each. valued at 7/6 were sent
to Sunset Home; tobacco and cigar
ettes valued at £13113110 were sent to
Lemnos; cash donations to patriotic
funds included the following: £85 to
the AC;, £20 to the Seamen's
sion, and £59 to the Prisoner of War
fund. Wool was also knitted into com
forts for the ACP.

collect tickets for the dance wthich is to
be held at Cathedral Hall on Friday.]

16th Battalion.
The uext general meeting of the 16th1
Battalion Welfare Committee has been i
postponed until September 9 at 3 pm In I
the drill 'hall. Baszaar-terrace. when the]
raffle will be drawn. Members are asked
to see that all butts are returned. A
card party will be held on September 8e
at 8 pm in the drill hall, members to
take thelr own cards and plate of sup-ij,
sale of Knitting Goods.
The IOGT Knitting Circle held a sue
cessful handicraft competition and sale
of gifts in the 'Rechabite Ball. Wil
liam-street. Perth. on Saturday evening.
The proceeds were devoted to the Knit
ting Circle Fund.
