TRIBUTE TO
OLD BOYS
Memorial At St
Peter's College
Of the 3,000 old boys of
St. Peter's College who
served in the Boer War' and
World Wars I. and II, about 337
lost their lives, about 169 were
killed and over I50 received
decorations in World War 11.
The secretary of the war
memorial chapel committee
(Mr. Donald F. Young) said
yesterday that these figures
were incomplete. For the pur
pose of compiling a complete
list, circulars had been sent to
all members of the St. Peter's
Collegians' Association request
ing information regarding
former scholars who served in
World War II.
Although the project would
not be completed until the hous
ing position eased and labor
and materials became available
an appeal for £20.000 had been
launched last year for the ex
tension of the school chapel.
The enlarged chapel would
serve as a memorial to all old
boys who lost their lives fight
ing for their country. Their
names would be inscribed in the
chapel and the names of those
who served in either war would
be inscribed in the memorial
hall at the school.
