Pakistan Seeks
Postponement
Australian Associaed Press
NEW YORK, Jan. 5.
The Pakistan Government
cabled the Secretary-Gene-
ral of UN (M. Trygve Lie)
today, asking for the post-
ponement of the Security
Council debate on the Indian
request for consideration of the
Ffnshmir situation.
The cable said that Pakistan
had not yet deciphered the In
dian case sent to the council,
and that the Pakistan Foreign
Minister (Sir Zafrullah Elian)
would be delayed reaching New
York because he was attending
the Burmese independence cele
brations.
LONDON, January 6.—Rebel
Kashmir forces nave com
pletely besieged Jammu and cut
the Jammu-India road, accord
ing to reports reaching the
Pakistan Government, says the
Karachi correspondent of Asso
ciated Press of Great Britain.
One Government official said
today that Kashmir forces had
surrounded one Indian division
in the Jammu area.
