Mr. George Laughton reports this week's sale as
follows:— Fat Cattle.— The supply this week was
again a moderate one, the proportion of good Quality
being quite insufficient for trade reciuirement3.
r-rices Tvere arm lor au uescnptions, any very prime
befog competed for with spirit. I sold best bullocks
up to £18. Fat Calves.— Very few to hand ; prices
were extremely high this week. I sold best from 45s.
to£214s. ; medium, from 30s. ; and very inferior, from
7s. 6d., and sold 46 at quotations. Fat Sheep.—
The yards were fairly filled, bnt there was a great
falling-off in quality from last week. The supply of
prime quality being hardly sufficient for require
ments, prices improved considerably. I sol'd by
auctionanumberof mixed sheep ; be.-t pen3 brought
up to 18s., others from 14s. Od. to. lCs., and inferior
from 10s. C-1. Fat lambs were scarce ; any
of good quality brought extreme,, prices. I sub
mitted a few of very inferior ' qflality to auction
most of the pens bringing from 4s. 9d. to 8s.; others,
very poor stores, selling from 2s.' 3d. to 4s. Cd. Pigs.
—A good supply this week of all sorts. Porkers—
These were fairly represented, and on the whole
sold well, a few pens of very prime being eagerly
competed for. Prices were ' a'-out the same
as last week. Bacon 'pigs were not
well represented. 1 sold best from £3
10s. to £4 5s.; lighter weights from 40s.
BreeiiDg Sows— The few in sold well. Stores— A
number of the pens weie filled with very small ill
bred stunted flics'; for these of course prices were
low, but any fairly grown showing breeding sold at
fully la*t week's prices. Dairy Cows.— A fairnuinber
were yarded. There was an excellent demand for
good COWB, newly calved, with calves at foot. Isold
several up to .£12 ; for best medium quality from
£7 18s. to £10 10s .; other* from £3 5s,, fjra cows for
fattening are in fair demand. .:,','--,
