BILLIARDS.
a. mawn lor sai a siae Deuween Messrs. a..
A. Albers, of Adelaide, and C. Memmott, of
Melbourne, was played at the Academy of
Music Billiard Saloon on Friday evening.
There was a fair attendance, but the game
did not excite much interest. Albers took a
slight lead at the start, but there was only
five points between the men when the ad
journment took place, the scores thenstanding
at 507 against 502. On resuming, Albers,
who played the ail-round game well, drew
away again, and reached 901 to his opponent's
803. Here Memmott, who had repeatedly
broken down on easy shots, compiled
a very nice break of 53, and Albers only
making 3. the Melbourne man contributed
11, and the game was called 904—865 ; but
Albers getting in again scored 48 by very
neat play, and finally won the game by 61
points. There were no big breaks, but
Albers showed good form, excepting when
he essayed the spot stroke, and as both men
played a very open game, the match was
well worth watching.
