MUNICIPAL AFFAIRS AT JAMESTOWN
Jamestown, November 23.
A public meeting was held last night to con
sider the advisability of borrowing £1,000 oh
the security of the rates, for fenciBg and plant
ins tbe park lands. The Mayor presided. Several
townsmen spose to tne question, and an amend
ment, that it was not desirable to borrow the
money at present, was carried by a considerable
majority. A poll waa demanded, and will be
taken after the meeting.
Candidates were nominated for the Mayoralty
and Councillors. No opposition is as yet an
nounced, and no contest is probable.
