THE DERBY STAKES DISPUTED.
Great excitement has been occasioned
amongst turf men by the discovery that
the winner of the last Derby Stakes,
Bend Or. the DroDflrtv of the Duke of West
minster, had been accidentally changed
when a yearling with Tadcaster, the pro
perty of the same owner. Both horses are
the progeny of Doncaster, and both ran
for the last Derby Stakes. It is reported
that the Duke of 'Westminster's Stud
boek has been badly kept. The Jockey
Club declines to decide the dispute as to
the Derby stakes, which have been
claimed by Mr. C. Brewster for his b.c.
Robert the Devil, which ran second. It
i3 expected that TattersaU's will decide
that beta are unaffected by the facts that
have now come to light.
