POLICE COURTS.
Adelaide : Saturday, May 8.
[Before Mr. S. Beddome, P.M.I*
frank wijfart/ was nnea os. lor arunsenness,
and £5 for assaulting S. W. Padman.
Charlotte jNitnn, Louis McPherson, and James
McLaren were Sued 10s. each for drunkenness.
. Ji'illiam John liivttt wa» fined 10s. for using
indecent language in a Glenelg railway-carriage,
and 10s. for travelling in the carriage without
paying his fare.
Alexander Scott and Thomas Ferry were
charged with vagrancy. Perry was discharged
with a caution, and Scott sent to gaol for seven
daj?, as he bad been warned.
Gtorge Hughet, William Roberts, TTilliam
Connor, Alfred Manrjidd, Benjamin Braham,
Javies Gordon, James Margrath, and Samuel
Baker were charged with vagrancy. The land
lord of tbe Galatea Hotel deposed to tbe idle
habits of some of the defendants. The land
lord of the Shamrock Hotel al«o gave a bad
account of several of the defendants. It was
stated that they herded together and shep
herded boehmen for the purpose of robbicg
them. The police also summed up their delin
quencies, representing defendants as convicted
thieves and idle loafers. They all promised
amendment, and an immediate retirement in
the country. Sentenced to two months' im
prisonment with bard labour, to date trom their
Dext conviction.
