CASUALTIES. &c.
A frightful accident occurred ou To.dsd.ty
ex-euing at the Seven Sisters Pit, Dylais,
Glamorganshire. As seven men were descending
the pit in the usual cage, aud when about jixtv

the cage suddenly became fixed aguiuat the
guides, and, tilting over, throe of the men were
precipitated to the bottom of the pit and two
were killed instantaneously. The third is still
alive, but was uucoD»;ious for three hours
afterwards. The other four men were bidly
hurt, but managed to cling to the csge until the
ecgiuedriver reversed his engine aiid brought
theaige free from tlie obstruction.

Western Railway passenger train was run into
at a ticket platform nt Waliall by a light engine
belonging to lhe Midlaud Railway Company.
Ihe vehicle at tho end of the train was etnwhed
? nd twelve of the passengers were injured.
One, a County Court bailiff named Lead
beater, had to be removed to the hospital. The
fctbers proceeded homeward.
Obituary.— Sir John George Shaw Lefevre,
