DETAILS OF QUEEN'S
CORONATION DRESS

LONDON, June 1 (A.A.P.).-Bucking-
ham Palace to-day released details of the
Queen's Coronation dress: It is of white satin
embroidered with the emblems of Great Brit-
ain and the Commonwealth..
Its designer, Norman Hartnell, said the
theme was "embroidered emblems on a lat-
tice of loyalty."
The dress has short sleeves, with a full
flaring skirt slightly trained. The neckline of
the fitted bodice is cut square over the shoul-
ders, then curving into a heart-shape centre.
Bodice sleeves and extreme
hem of the skirt are bordered
with an embntdared band of
golden crystals, graduated dia-
monds and pearls.
The same embroidered Dana
is repeated thrice across the
:Jkirt. enclosing emblems and
forming a garland against a lat-
ticework background of seed1
pearl and crystal with which the
gown is entirely encrusted. The
last portion of the skirt includes
every emblem of the Common-
wealth, closely surrounding the
Tudor rose of England, roses
forming central motif of a mixed
bouquet of emblematic flowers,
clustered around which are more
emblems.
The emblems are-Australia:
Wattle blossom is shown in mi-
mosa and yellow tufts of foliage
in green and gold thread.
Mew Zealand: Fern appears
in soft green, silk veined with
silver and crystal.
Canada: Maple leaf in green;
silk embroideries, bordered with
gold bullion thread and veined
in crystal
South Africa: The protea
flower appears.in shaded pink
silk. Each petal is bordered with
sfiver thread. The leaves aro
shaded green silk, and embel-
lished with rose diamonds.
- India: The Lotus Hover ot
India appears in Mother of
Pearl embroidered petals, seed
pearls and diamonds.
Ceylon: The Ceylon Lotus
flower is shown in white sequins
Mother of Pearl diamonds and
soft green silk. Wheat cotton
and jute*, are . shown together.

OTHER EMBLEMS
Other emblems are:
England:-Tudor rose ap-
pears first on short sleeves,
embroidered in the palest pink
silk, pearls and gold and sil-
ver bullion. j
Wales:-Leek appears in the
first portion of the skirt. Leek!
flower is embroidered in white!
silk and diamonds and leaves
in the palest green silk.
Ireland: Shamrock is shown
in the second portion of the
skirt, embroidered in soft
green silk, silver thread bul-
lion and diamonds.
Scotland: Thistle is shown in
the third portion- of skirt em-
broidered in pale mauve silk
and amethysts. Calyx is em-
broidered in resida green silk,!
