COMPETITION
JUDGING ANNOUNCED
LONDON, Dec. 12 (AJV.P.).
"Daydream Island." a waltz com-
posed by Mrs. Monda Myers (46),
of Melbourne, won the Australian
Broadcasting Commission's Jubilee*
tong parade competition to-day.
Bus Geraldo, Britain's famous
dance band leader who Judges the
entries, said that neither it nor the
pther winners were likely to b»
world hits. Geraldo said that if
Australian song writers wanted ta
make a world market their standard
would have to be higher than the
¡competition showed. "The lyrics are
'particularly bad. There is no con- .
'Unuity," he said.
GeraWo gave the second prize to
"Lake Macquarie", composed by
Hal Evans, an Englishman who has
been living in Sydney for three *
years. The third prise went to
"Alice Springs," composed by
Misses T. and G. Weatherly, two of
the five "Musical Weatherieys"-a
family touring entertainment leam.
Geraldo selected the winners from
the top eight of nearly 3000 entries
sutnuttted to'ftap AJ3.0.
