NEW OH TALKS AT
TEHERAN
WITH WORLD BANK
"GENERALLY ACCEPTABLE."
TEHERAN, Mar. 8 (AAP.).-A
Persian Government spokesman
(Javad Boushiri) told reporters
to-day that the views of the Inter-
national Bank on the oil situation
were generally acceptable and the
Persian Government hoped to
reach a satisfactory solution.
"Our negotiations with the bank
are not contrary to ^Persia's oil
nationalisation law," he said.
The new series of talks between
the Government and the Bank to-
day entered their second day,
with the Persian Mixed Oil. Com-
mission meeting- World Bank ex
-perts led by Mr. Victor Prud-
homme. The American Ambassa-
dor (Mr. Hoy Henderson) had a
talk with the Premier (Dr. Moh-
ammed Mossadeq) after a talk
with the British charge d'affaires
(Mr. George Middleton).
According to a British source,
Anglo-American accord in the
approach to the Persian oil ques-
tion is being maintained. Dr.
Mossadeq, replying to Mr. Robert
Garner, the vice-president of the
International Bank, who led the
bank mission to Teheran last
month, said he/hoped that a solu-
tion would be found.
Mr. Garner, after talks in Lon-
don, went to Washington, sending
Mr. Prudhomme to Teheran to
continue the talks with the Per-
sian Government. Mr. Garner
cabled to the Premier appealing to
him to continue the discussions
with Mr. Prudhomme.
