WOMAN BLOWN OVER
CUFF

SYDNEY, June 35.-A strong gust
of wind blew a woman' to nur
death over a 300ft cliff near Ava-
lon this afternoon. She was Mrs.
Doris Hazel Irons (41), of Corona
Avenue, Roseville. For several
hours after her fall police rescue
squads under Sergeant H. Weir
risked their lives in an attempt to
recover the body.
The police were told that Mrs.
Irons had accompanied her hus-
band in their car around u scenic
drive between Avalon and Bilgola
Beach late this afternoon. Sha
alighted from the car and walked
down a slope to near the cliff
edge. Her husband, who was sit-
ting in the car, saw her struck by
a strong gust of wind, lifted off
her feet, and blown over .the edfe
The police rushed to the scene
ted saw Mrs. Irons' body on the
reeks. Sergeant Weir was lowered
to the ropes below in the teeth
of a howling gale and with giant
waves drenching him to the skin.
The treman'» body, wh'ch bad been
badly battered, was brought to the
top. Sergeant Weir was exhausted,
and almost tn a state of collapse.
