WRECKAGE FOUND ON
BEACH
BELIEVED FROM
MISSING LAUNCH
NO TRACE OF TWO
OCCUPANTS.
SYDNEY, April 25.-Two fisher-
men are believed to have been
lost in heavy seas off the central
coast yesterday. Late to-day
wreckage believed to be from the
16ft. open launch in which the
men left Wagstaff Point, near
Gosford, and also a fishing basket
believed to have been owned by
one of. them, were washed up on
Putty Beach, 18 miles from Gos-
ford.
Earlief»in the day coastline and
aerial searches had failed to re-
veal any. trace of the missing men.
The men, Arthur Kennedy (70),
of Wagstaff Point, and William
Folwell (56). married, of Etta-
long, left in the launch at 5.30
ajn. yesterday, intending to re-
turn during the afternoon. They
have not been seen or heard of
since.
Relatives became alarmed early
to-day and informed the Gosford
police, who started a search along
the coastline for the launch, but
did not-find any trace of it All
planes on the Sydney-Brisbane
route -were» ordered' to alter
course during the day to search
for the launch. Although visi-
bility was .good no sign of the
launch or any wreckage was seen.
Heavy seas were running off
the central coast yesterday and
last night and police fear that
they caused the boat to capsize.
Rough seas to-day prevented
launches patting out from sec-
tions of the central coast to
search for the men.
