ATHERTON TURF CLUB
COMMITTEE MEETING.
ATHERTON, June 30.-Mr. Wason
presided at thejlast meeting of the Ather-
ton Turf Club: The. secretary's action in
abandoning the'race meeting on Aug-
ust 30 in lieu of- Gordonvale foregoing
their date on - July 5 was confirmed.
A.letter was received from the Innis-
fail Club regarding the closing of nom-
inations and acceptances. A motion was
carried : "Provided all clubs adopt thc
same -procedure in the far northern area
to: make the closing of nominations
eight days prior to the racing date and
acceptances five days, this club is agree-
able."
When weights are declared the order
of races will be drawn. ' The first race
on Saturday, July 5, is timed to start at
1.45 pjn. AU bookmakers In the draw
for places must submit their names be-
fore 4 pjn. on Friday next. The draw
will, tate place at the R-S-S.AXL.A.
rooms at 8 o'clock the same evening.
Regarding the presentations to be made
to the winning jockeys Of different
special, races, it was resolved that Mrs.
"K. Williams be asked to present the
saab and whip,to the winning jockey ol
the F. C. Williams Memorial Handicap;
that Mr. Hedges present the spurs tc
the jockey riding the first winner on trw
new course; Mrs. Wason, wife of thc
president of -the club, to present the sask
to the winner of the cup; and Mr.
Edmonds the riding gear and bag to thc
jockey riding the most winners through-
out the meeting. It was also resolved
that the bar on the committee's stanc
he available to the committee and theil
official guests, no ladies to be permití»
in the bar.
The following resolution was passed
"All jockeys, including amateurs, mus
be in the jockeys! room at 1.1& pan
each, day of the races.*'
A motion was moved by Mr. Wasoi
that the Tumoulin Hack Club be grant«
permission--to race on August 3 on th
Mn«"*'T racecourse at a rental of £lt
Mr. Edmonds seconded the motion.
Ah amendment waa moved by Mi
Robinson that the fee\be £10 plus 1
per. cent, of the gate and the Atherton
! Club to he responsible for putting th
track in racing condition. The amend
> ment was seconded by Mr. Storer. Th
