.AT COURSING MEETING. -
SYDNEY. March 28.
.The time-keeper twas attacked .and
the glass of the electric: semaphore was
smashed at Harold ¿Park to-day dur-
ing one of the 'worst demonstrations
seen at a New South Wales dog meet-
ing. . 'j . . : '
., A'.free-for-all brawl developed, and
at .one stage nearly '20 people were in-
volved. Police rushed to the scene,
and two men were: taken into the
course office. -j . '.
Troublé arose when the judge de-
clared 'Suit . a Jimmy =- winner : over
Beau Silver by half a ler^th in the
Maiden Stake. . Beau Siiver, who
started favourite, finished fast on the
outside, and from the official en-
closure, the judge's placings seemed
correct Immediately the numbers
: were hoisted a hostile demonstration
broke out; and irate punters rushed
across the track.
Mr.. Mick Carter, the time-keeper,
who was first to leave the judge's box,
evidently was mistaken for one of the
judges. One man attacked Mr Car-
ter, and blows were exchanged. Then,
as other officials came out of the stand,
a free-for-all brawl developed. J
One punter grabbed a form and
smashed the glass on the electric
semaphore, which indicates the winner
and place numbers.
A soldier tried to stall off some of
the attackers. : Then four policemen
r shed across the trotting track and
grabbed several [ of those' swinging
