VEGETABLES.
Lettuce and Pumnpkin Easier.
Several lines were easier at yesterday's
sales in the vegetable section of the Met
ropolitan Markets. Pumpkin was again
heavily supplied and values dropped fur
ther, and lettuce eased appreciably.
Potatoes rentained steady and swedes sold
to a keen demand. Cabbage was heavily
supplied, but prices remained fairly
steady. Beans took an upward turn and
cauliflowers were a shade dearer. Prices
were as follows:
ROOT VEGETABLES.-Potatoes, metropolitan
washed, 5/ to 1016 a cat. (special to 1856);
country, new dug, 5/ to 9/ (inferior from 3/ a
bag); other, 3/ to 7/6; sweet, id. to 1d.
a lb. Swedes, 101 to 15/9 a cwt. (special
to 17/3). Carrots, 113 to 31 a dozen bunches.
Turnips, 9d. to 1/8 (inferior from 2d.). Beet
root, 2d. to 1/. Par?nips, 1/ to 3/ (special to
3/4). Onions, white, 12/ to 25/ a cwt.; brown,
7/ to 11/3.
OTHER LINES.-Pumpkin, 3/ to 7/6 a cwt.
(inferior from 1/6 a bag). Cabbage, 31 to
1516 a bag (special to 19/9). Lettuce, crates,
1/ to 4/1 (special to 4/6, inferior from 4d.).
Caulhflowers, 61 to 141 a dozn (special to
I5/3). Celery, 1/ to 41. Cucumbers, 2/ to
313. Marrows, 1/ to 3/. Peas, 4d. to 6d. a
lb. Deans, 21d. to 8d. Rhubarb, id. to 21d.
