LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
.Tuesday. October 17.
.notices:—
1. Captain Bagot—
'To adk the Hon. the Chief Secretary upon what
authoritv it is that the Government Resident in
North Australia . draws bills upon the Agent
General in London.'
2. Mr. Baker to move—
'That he have leave to introduce 'A Bill inti
tuled an Act to repeal an Act, No. 13 of 1801, inti
tuled 'An Act to amend the Law relating to the
Limitation of Actions and Suits, ' and to amend and
consolidate the Law relating to the limitation of
Actions and Suits.''
3. Mr. Solomon to move—
' That the debate be now resumed on the ques
tion- 'That in th& opinion of this Council the ap
pointment of a Minister of the Crown to an office
of profit by his colleagues is subversive of the Con
stitution, and that such appointments are calcu
lated to lead to abuses of responsible government,
such as that particular form of government was
mainly intended to guard against.' To which on
amendment hod been moved (Captain Bagot)—
To leave out 'subversive,' with a view to insert the
following words:— 'Contrary to the spirit' '
4. Mr. Davenport to move—
' That an address be presented to His Excellency
the Govemor-in-Chief, praying that the deposit
payable at the sales of waste lands be raised to 50
percent'
5. Mr. Davenport to move—
' That there be laid on the table of this Council
a lithographed plan of the main lines of road as
declared by Act 1C, 1865.'
6. Mr. AYERS to move—
'That a Bill, intituled 'An Act for Compen
satingthelFamilies of Persons Killed by Accidents,'
be now read a second time.'
7. Mr. Baker to move—
' That on address be presented to His Excellency
the Governor-in-Chief, informing him that in the
opinion of this Council the course pursued by the
Government in commencing numerous legal pro
ceedings against those lessees of the Crown who
claim a renewal of their leases is unnecessarily
expensive to the Government and vexatious and
oppressive to the tenants of the Crown, and re
questing that His Excellency will be pleased to
cause a discontinuance of such proceedings, and to
agree to a trial of one cose in the Supreme Court
upon the broad merits of the question at issue,
with a view that a judgment in such case may be
token as a decision of tne whole.'

Notices of Motion:—
1. Mr. Fuller to move—
' That there be laid on the table of this House a
return showing, in numbered order, the names
official titles— average daily, monthly, aud yearly
pay, pension, or emolument of every officer or
other person m the employ of, or connected with,
the Government of this colony, for services ren
dered; stating whether on the civil, fixed, or pro
visional and temporary lists or establishments; to
be arranged, according to seniority of service, from
the highest to the lowest salary (the return also to
include all supernumeraries or cadets); with other
columns showing annual value of (if any) forage,
rations, quarters, fire, light water, uniforms,
equipments, servants, and any other allowances,
drawn in addition to such pay, pension, or emolu
ment ; with the total of the whole. In cases where
persons are paid by fees or commissions the annual
amount to be computed for the year ending on
30th September last'
2. Mr. Bower to move
'That the House resolve itself into a Committee
of the whole for the' purpose of considering the
motion— 'That on address be presented to His
Excellency the Govemor-in-Chief, praying His
Excellency to recommend this House to make
provision in the Estimates for the year I860, to an
extent not_ exceeding £250, for the purpose of
building a lifeboat to be kept near the Semaphore,
on Lefevre's Peninsula, so aa to be in readiness
for use in the event of vessels having to be
boarded in bad weather.' '
3. Mr. Cabr to move—
'That the House resolve itself into a Committee
of the whole for the purpose of considering the
raotion-'That an address be presented to His
Excellency the Govemor-in-Chief, praying His
Excellency to recommend this House to make pro
vision in the Estimates for the year 1866, to an
extent, not exceeding £3,000, for the purpose ol
constructing the road from Section 2206 through
Coromandel Valley, according to the report 0
Select Committee of August 4th, 1863 ' '
4. Mr. Colton to move—
