MRS. MARGARET CROWE.
I'--There passed away at Wynnum on
Friday, May 17, a very old; and "highly;
respected resident of North« Queens
! land, in the- person of -Mrs. Margaret
Crowe, who was 80 years of age,' and
had been a resident of North Queens
'landfor the-past 50 years. She was
Born at BallyshannOn, County Donegal,
Ireland, whènce^with the other mern-j
' hers of. her family, she ? went- to |
America. In'1874 she arrived iii Bris- '
bane, where she remained until;,May,
1879, when she came-to Cairns and: was,
married' on 17th May, 1879, to William.
Crowe, at; that "time a .member of-the
Queensland. Police, stationed at Smith-
field. 'He subsequently resigned from
^the Police and .entered into .business, in
the hotel line. Left a widow , after
little more than eight years.of/married'
life, .Mrs. Crow:e reared ,a, family -of
three sons - .and. one . daughter./ The
second son, ; Edward, was . killed in-the
I war, leaving' two sons'and one daugh
lter. to mourn»their- sad-loss-namely,.
