Thc Rolls.
Some Glaring Anomalies.
BRISDANE. Sept. 30.
A çlancc nt thc rolls, on which the
elections will bc foughton October 9,
show a number of glaring anomalies.
It is significant that thc five electorates
with thc largest enrolments, viz.. Bu-
limba, Nundah, Oxley, Murrumba, and
Toowong, arc represented by Nation-
alists, and thc five with thc lowest en-
rolments, viz., Burke, Chillagoe,
Queenton. Kennedy, and Charters
Towers. ? by Labor members. Thc
live Nationalist members in these cases
represent 52.461 electors; while thc
five Labor members represent only
13.217. This is equivalent to a sys-
tem ot plural voting. Mr. W. H.
Harnes. Nationalist member for Bu-
limba, represents 275 electors more
than Messrs. Riordan, Theodore, Win-
stanley, O'Sullivan, and Wellington
(Labor members) put together. A
primary producing electorate like
Murrumba has nearly as many voters
in it as Chillagoe. Kennedy, Queen-
ton, and Burke combined. .
The Act provides that a revision of
the electorate boundaries may bel
made from time to time, but no such
distribution has been carried out since j
.1911. Why?-R. B. Dore,. Queen
Street, Brisbane.
