HOUSEHOLD SCIENCE.
Conclusion of Course.
A FTER a fortnight of alternate lec
?ÍX tures and demonstrations the four-
teenth annual rural household science
course concluded on Friday. Mrs. Mary
Farrelly, who again acted as the "mother"
of the course, said that although so many
of the former students had enrolled again
it was extremely gratifying to find that
this year there was a much larger per-
centage of younger students, most of
whom were country girls. This year 106
students had attended the lectures, com-
pared with approximately 9? last year.
Many of the students had spoken to
Mrs. Farrelly of the actual benefits gained
from the course. One student who had
never before gained a prize in a show won
seven prizes last year and attributed all
her success to the fact that she had at-
tended the cooking- lectures and demon-
strations. Another had obtained greater
profits from her poultry when she applied
scientific methods, and many had found
the upholstery lessons useful.
In welcoming the students the State
president of the Country Women's Asso-
ziation (Mrs. A. Burt) commented ou the
number of members who had attended the
course, and hoped that all these would
pass on what information they could at
the meetings of the association, which
lad always endeavoured to foster home-
crafts and farm Industries.
During the afternoon two of the oldest
students made a presentation to Mrs.
Farrelly on behalf of the class.
