Dr. Edward Albert Officer was take.«
ill suddenly with heart trouble at his
residence in King's Park-road on June 10
and died late that night. During thc af- j
ternoon he had performed an operation
with Dr. G. W\ Barker, and at that time \
seemed to be in his normal health. Di\ j
Officer, who was öS years of age, had
practised his profession in Western Aus-
tralian for over 30 years. Ile was an
honorary physician of the Perth Hospital
and the Children's Hospital, and a mem-
ber of the board of management of the
latter institution.' He was also honorary
medical officer to the Western Austra-
lian Turf Club, of which lie was a i>ro
minent member, lie was well known as a
racehorse owner, and was held in high
esteem by u large circle of friends. When,
in Victoria, he was-a prominent foot-
baller, playing with the Essendon team.
.Thousands paid a silent tribute to the'
memory of thc late Dr. E. A. Officer at
his funeral in the Karrakatta Cemetery
on Sunday. Evidence of the high .esteem
and general respect in which lie was re-
garded Was given hy a concourse of
mourners, estimated to be the largest
assembled at a graveside «¡nee the burial
of Loid Forrest. Two fiord) cars were
heaped with flowers. The burial was
conducted by the Her. Geo. Tulloch^ who
delivered an impressive address on the
life and deeds of Dr. Officer.
The chief mourners were Mr. T. Of-
ficer (son) and Mr. G. N. Goodsir
(nephew). The pall-'oearers were Drs.
A. J. H. Saw. M.L.C., G. W. Barker.
