land, at the age of 76. He was born
in Adelaide, where he was called to the
bar. For many years-he was engaged
in explorations in Central Australia,
Africa and other countries. He served
in the South African war and in the
Great War with naval armoured car
squadrons, and later was on special naval
service in the United States.
Miss Eleanore La Trobe, the young-
est daughter of the first Lieutenant
Governor of Victoria, Mr. Charles
Joseph La Trobe, who retired from that
office in 1854, has died In England, at the
age of 97.
