Limerick Not for Melbourne.
On .my return from Perth (writes* "Car-
digan" in the "Australasian") I receive«].'
à. Jotter from F. 1). Jones, the trainer of
Limerick, and I am sorry to say that we
are not likely to *see Limerick in Mel-
bourne this- autumn. He writes, "I. am
afraid that the Melbourne "part of the au-
tumn trip is definitely off. lt would mean
commencing serious work at the end of
December to be really fit to run at Caul-
field, and taking the extra travelling into ]
. consideration, it would not give T.u.-.erick
the.,rest he deserves after hi« gruelling;
spring racing. Our first run "will probably1
be the ."Rawson Stakes, at Rosehill, some
. where about the middle of March, ic I ;
Can just potter along with Lim?rick until
nearly the. end of January bofwe asking
him io go any. speed. _ He has not bad '
time to fill out much since lw raced last,
but lookc very bright. I suppose it will
'depend upon the size of the Seid, ns '.veil
as the handicap, as to whether fte Will b«:
a runner in the King's Cup. If wc miss
that race I can get home in vim.» for noth
the Awapuni Gold Gnp anti JV!). Ormond
Gold Cup races. The stakes aré «nly íair.
but the trophies are well 'worbh winning."
Jones, also mentioned that he won a
couple of races with Arikiwai (Pillie
winkie's . half-brother), and he is hopeful
of tba horse turning out useful. .Jones
adds that they have had a wonderful
spring in New Zealand, and he has never
seen the country looking better. "
