DISTRIBUTION OF WIRE NETTING
. AND SEED WHEAT.
"South Australian," Rukering, writes: J
-I am at present farming at J
Kukerin and want information, re-
garding the distribution of wire
netting. Could you give me the de-
tails as to who can get same, how1 it -
-is to be ueed, how it is to be paid
for? Would you also give me the
address to apply for graded seed
wheat from Government firms?
The ¡Minister for Lands has control of
the distribution of wire ¡netting under the
Federal Grant ¡My correspondent
should, therefore, -write to the Under
Secretary for Land®, Perth, giving par-
ticulars of tlie locality of his» -holding,
the extent of iniproreaient« and the
amount of wire netting he requires, at
the same time asking for official forms
o£ application, for netting.
Regarding seed wheat, my correspon-
dent should apply to the Manager of the
nearest State 'Farm, which in his case
will be Merredin, applying for the quanr
tity of seed wheat he requires of dif-
ferent varieties. There is «uch a demand
for the «tul wheat that I believe only
sufficient is supplied to any applicant to
enable him to sow a few acres of clean
fallow to produce 6eed for the following
year. The State Farms do not provide
clean pedigree seed for farmers to sow
on dirty land. Their scheme is to pro-
vide a few bags of seed with which the
farmer can sow a small area of clean
land with 40 or 451b. of seed to the acre,
and this crop, if carefully harvested wiU
provide seed wheat for the bulk of the
farm, the following year.
If seed cannot be obtained from the
State Farra, niy correspondent should
watch the advertisements-such as that
of Mr. W. Ford, of Brookton-and make
| application foTseed wheat before seeding
' time. Mr. Ford exhibited bags of two
i very fine wheats at the Royal Show.
These were Dollar and Bald Early. I
think that )te can. also supply pedigree
Hard Federation, Niloc, wesley and
Clarendon.
