To the Editor of the Australian.
SIR,
If you should consider the following opinion
worthy a place in The Australian, I am persuaded
you will publish it.
Your humble servant, and
A SUBSCRIBER.
I beg leave to suggest a few remarks on what I
flatter myself, would effectually set aside a rumour
" that the Windsor stage does not pay, and that the
proprietors will not much longer send the vehicle to
the Hawkesbury." I repeat the words of a proprietor.
As I have no doubt of the veracity of the remark, I
beg leave to observe that would the stage coach pro-
prietors calculate the real amount of the expences of
that coach for the space of three months, and also
consider how many inside and outside passengers it
would require merely to cover the same, the inhabit-
ants of the districts of the Hawkesbury would most
willingly encourage a canvas for subscribers of a cer-
tain number of tickets for inside and outside seats in
the stage from Windsor to Parramatta, and from Par-
ramatta to Windsor, whereby the proprietors would be
insured from loss, and would still receive the benefit
of letters, parcels, and ready money customers. Bakers
and tea dealers at Hawkesbury would take wheat in
payment for tickets, and find an interest therein.
