BRITAIN
"Freedom Due To
War Effort"
A call to delegates to
do their utmost to help
Britain in her present
economic difficulties was made
by the Lord Mayor (Mr. Me-
Leay) in opening the annual
conference of the SA branch ot
the Australian Natives' Asso
ciation last night.
?The freedom and liberty we
enjoy in Australia today is
largely due to the great part the
people of Great Britain played
in saving democracy," said Mr.
McLeay.
"We should urge that more of
these people be brought to Aus
|tralia to begin life anew."
! "To thrive we must populate
i Australia," said the chief pre
sident of the association (Mr.
C. H. Bright).
"The greatest contribution we |
can make to the future of Aus
tralia is to bring as many of our
{blood brothers from Great Bri
tain as possible to help us to
achieve our nationhood."
I Mr. Bright urged delegates to
Ido their utmost to absorb New
: Australians into the community
iiand to avoid them setting up
'separate communities.
?They will not attempt to do
that if we are friendly toward
them." he added.
