Compensation For
A settlement was announced
when the hearing was resumed
yesterday of a claim for com- <*>
pensation by the parents of a

Covent Garden fire on October
27, 1948.
Michael Casey and Alice Rose
Casey, of Tiverton station,
Yunta. the parents of Betty
Melba Casey, kitchenhand, of
River street, Payneham, who
died in the fire, had claimed to
have been partially dependant
upon her.
They claimed that she bad
sent them 30? a week for the
maintenance of themselves and
other children.
Partial dependency was ad
mitted yesterday by Mr. E. J.
C. Hogan, who appeared for
Ellis Cafes, Ltd, of Gouger
street, Adelaide.
He said that Ellis Cafes, Ltd.,
had agreed to pay £208 compen
sation, together with £26 funeral
expenses and £5 5/ costs.
