SYDNEY, October 7,
Sydney William Edwards and Ray
Selby, who had arrived in Coff's Har- <*>
bor about 9 p.m. on Saturday, after a
fishing excursion, found that a launch
owned by Robert McHwain was on
fire. They threw buckets of water on
the blaze, which was coming from a
mattress. After the fifteenth bucket
had been thrown, they were startled to
hear a -voice from within say. "Who is
there? What's wrong?" Then Prank
Hlcksan, who had been sound asleep,
crawled from the cabin. Had it cot
been lor the intervention of Edwards
and Selby. he would have been trapped
In the cabin, as the names were
spreading quickly and the feather bed
on which he was lying was smoulder
ing. Near by was a tank containing
three sad a- half gallons of petroL
