Bowls Openings Draw
Large Crowds
By FIRM SHOT
In excellent weather on Saturday, 27 metropolitan
bowling clubs opened their greens for the season's play.
Owing to the soft condition of the ground, there was no play
at several of the greens.
The SABA was represented at
the various greens by Messrs. J.
C. Rundle (vice-patron). Andrew
D. Young (president). H. O. I*ur
enti (vice-president). L. A. Beasley,
j. S. Butler, C. E. Hockney, A. J.
McCarthy. V. H. Trenouth, and H.
R. Wheeler (executive members).
Adelaide <VIel?H? -Drr?e>.—Two hun
dred visitors and playem were received
by the president (Mr. D. 8. ReiUonl and
Mrs. Neilson. Th? opening ceremony
was performed by the Cord M?yor <Mr.
McLesyi.
Adelaide Oval.—Toe reception by the
president (Mr. W. 8. Hansonl and MM.
W. Treloar was attended by 250 people
and the.green wax opened by Mr. Justice
Abbott.
Albeitm.—Two hundred people atten
ded the reception held by the president
(Mr. F. H. Knapmant and Mrs. Knap
man. A new visitors' room was opened
by the Mayor or Port Adelaide I Mr. G.
M. Mackayi. who was accompanied by
Mrs. Maekav. The green was opened
by Mr. R. Borer.
Gfcnelr.—The attendance was nearly
300. where the president CMr. C. H. Willsi
and Mrs. Mills held the reception. Sir
Botjert WchoUs. who was accompanied bj
Lady Nicholls. responded on behalf of the
visitors. The green was opened by Mr.
Baden-PatUnson. MP.
Grange.—The president TMt. H. W.
Luff) welcomed 110 gueite ?nd after
wards opened the green tor play.

Bonnarl welcomed 300 people at Haw
thorn. The Mayor ot Mltcham (Mr. W.
A. Norman) performed the opening cere

people were received by the president (Mr.

was opened by the Mayor of Unley (Mr.

Parkside.—The attendance was 230 and
following the reception by the president
(Mr. A. W. Perry) and fits. Perry, the
green was opened by Mr. F. T. Perry,

guests. The creen was opened tor play
by Mr. Tidswell.
Bsawaya.—Following the reception of
ISO guests by the president (Mr. J.
Smith* and Mra. Bmltb. the opening cere
mony waa performed by the Railways
Commissioner IMr. R. Chapman).

and visitors were received by the pre
sident (Mr. W. D. Vswserl and Mrs. Vkv
ser. The opening ceremony was per

sioner (Mr. T. C. Stephens*.-
Tetrak.—The attendancse was 220.
The president (Mr. V. Jones) and Mrs.
Jones held the reception and the green
was opened by Mr. P. K. Let.
Trannere.—The president (Mr. C.
Prick) and Mrs. Prick entertained 3SO
guests. The green was opened by Mr.
J. 8. Butler (executive member of tbe

The president (Mr. P. Owen) and Mrs.
Owen held the reception, after which the
green was opened hy tbe Mayor or Wal
kervllle (Mr. F. Runge).
Woodville.—The president (Mr. E. J.
Ames* and Un. Ames received 240 people.
The green was opened by Cr. B. Stanes,

denanga.—Berore a crowd or about
200 people, the Mayor of Burnside (Mr.
T. R. Mellcri. who was introduced by tbe
president (Mr. A. J. Peek), performed the
opening ceremony.

The Wlllunga green was opened by the
secretary of the SABA (Mr. J. A. Gib
son).
The Henley Club will open its green this
afternoon and the remainder oJ tbe 44
metropolitan clubs will begin operations
next Saturday.
