SOUTH ANTRIM ELECTION.
MIR. RUSSELL'S CANDIDATIE
DEFEATED.
LONDON, Feb. 7.
'An interesting contest has been
fought in the North of Ireland.
The South Antrim seat in the House
of Commons having become vacant
by the appointment of the Right Hon.
W. G. E. Macartney (C.) to the posl
tion of Deputy Master of the Mint, Mr.
T. W. Russell, member for South Ty
rone, and who was left out of the
Government during the recent recon
struction,. decided to nominate a can
didate and endeavour to win the seat
for the local reform party.
Mr. Kelghtly was his nominee, and
Mr. Craig was the representative of the
Conservative interests. The result of
the polling was as follows:
