¢The above sports were held on the
N.T:C..A. Ground yesterday afternoon in
the presence of a large and fashionable
assemblage. The weather was pCea
sant, 'though warm, and the ground
presented a very attractive appearance,
bding gaily decorated for the occasion
thanks to the combined efforts of the
commlittee and other helpers. Successful
as this gathering has been in past years,
this year's event surpassed in interest
all previous smeetings. A familiar figure
on the ground was missed in the person
of the late Hon. 'H. I. Rooke, who has
always in past years officiated as re
feree, and gienerally taken great in
terest in the sports. On this occasion
the position was filled by Mr. E. Wh'it
fEld. IA programnme of 26 events was
carried without a hitch, reflecting great
credft on the management. The 2nd
Battalion Band played lively selections
during the afternoon, greatly enhancing
the pleasure of the proceedings, while a
nuanber of lady friends kindly provided
afternoon tea for the visitors.
Mr. W. A. W'hitaker officiated as
judge, Sergeant-Major Wdlsh as starter,
'Mr. J. C. Brammall as timekeeper, and
,Messrs. J. Oberlfin-Harris, T. C. Bramn
mall, J. 'S. Wilkinson, L. Fairthorne, E.
MVRassey, and A. N. Hill as handicappers.
The secretarial duties were .ably car
ried out by Mr. H. G'illett, while the
president (Rev. C. J. Wilkinson) as
sisted materially tin making the sports
the success they were. Results:

I the mbst interesting events of the day
owing to the number of entries and the
good jumping of the winner (I. Parra
e more), who, starting from scratch,
cleared 5ft. lin. K. Ward (Sin.) came
second, with 4'ft. 11in., and Clive Wood
.-',man (6in.) third, with 4ft. 10in.
