BLIND AND DEAF AND DUMB
INSTITUTION.
The monthly meeting of the committee of the
Blind and Deaf and Dumb Institution was held at the
Arbitration-room, Waymouth-street, on Friday, June
25, when there were present:—Sir John Cotton, (presi-
dent) In the chair. Sir Edwin Smith, Messrs, A. M.
Simpson (tnasurer), G. W. Hswkes, aM, B.
Knowlea, J. Downing. Vf. Bickford, Alfred Bpence.
Joahna Oorr, D. Nock, J.P., the Mayor of Bnehton
(Mr. H. J. Scott), the superintendent (Mr. Samuel
Johnson), and the secretary (Mr. Boffe Searey). 3he

and approved. The superintendent's report for the
month, which, was read and adopted, stated that a
deaf-mute lad, aged 19} years, residing at Broken
Bill, New South Wales; was admitted on June U.

institution. All the inmates are in good health. ?On
account of the increase in the number ot pupils
—eight having been admitted since March last, and
three mote who have been pawed for admission willb*
brought to the institution after the midwinter vaca*
tion in July—it was resolved to appoint an additional
junior male teacher. An applies lion was ap

deaf and dumb boy, aged six years, at present rend
ing at Millbrook During the- month Mesdames
Bickford and Luxmoore visited the institution, when
everything was found in good order. Becerpts—Sub

Os. Sd. It was resolved that the months accounts,
amounting to £228 65,, bepaid.
