"STRONG MAN" FEAT
Von Luckner Wins a Wager
Sydney, June 2.
Count Felix von Luckner to-day
carried out his wager to tear a tele
phone book into four pieces in two
actions.
The bet was made with a Sydney
business man, and was for £5. The
business man to-day brought a new
telephone book containing 550 pages
and about an inch thick to Count
von. Luckner. The count put his
pipe in his mouth, exerted pressure
and the book was in halves. Mr. C.
Stanley, Wilson, the business man,
and the count smiled at each other
when the two pieces were put to
gether. Red in the face, the count
tugged at his burden, but clung to
his pipe, trembling with the effort.
He succeeded.
Count von Luckner said he would
pass the £5 on to the blind diggers.
