GOLDEN DAISY.
South African marguerite, or
golden daisy, are the popular gar
den names of Dimorphotheca auran
tiaea and its varieties. Since the
introduction of the typical species,
which is a hardy, easily cultivated,
profusely and sowy flowering an-.
nual, it has had a yearly increasing
number of admirers. There are now
available several varieties, showing
a diversity of colour in their.blooms.:
In the typical form the large, daisy
like flower heads are of a deep
orange colour, but those of the
newer varieties range from pure
white, through all shades of cream
and yellow, to salmon. Many of
the floweers are of a darker colour
on the ,reverse side of the petals,
producing a very pretty effect. The
South African mnarguerite and its
va,rieties are fairly dwarf, compact
growing plants, suitable either for
maesing or for edging to taller
vegetation. They can also be planted
singly at intervals in the borders
amongst other plants of a similar
iheighi, and when in flower produce
a ehwming contrast in colour.
