CALTOWIE, July 30.
Considerable dissatisfaction is being ex-
pressed at the proposed construction of the
Appila Yarrowie railway. It has always been
looked upon as a piece of political jobbery,
as a line entirely of convenience to farmers
who are mostly already within reasonable
distance from railway communication. The
greatest proportion of the agricultural pro
duce to be conveyed already lieds its way to
Oie main line, and other Carmen for whose
benefit the proposed line is ostensibly to be
constructed will prefer carting by teams to
Port Germein aa being the nearest seaport.
Since tiie estimated cost bas becn made public
the expenditure ia looked upon as being still
less justifiable and aa a most unwarranted ex
penditure of pablic money.
