In reply to questions in the House
of Commons yesterday, as already
cabled, the Prime Minister, Mr.
Herbert Asquith, said that, an eix
tirely new situation had arisen in
Morocco, and that it was very like
ly to affect British interests. He
was confident that. diplomacy would
find a solution of the problem, but
meanwhile the Governmnent woald
duly protect British interests and
would fulfil its treaty obligations to
France.
The assurance given by Mr. As
quith have occasioned great" satis
faction in France, and they are
warmly welcomed by nearly all, the
French newspapers2 as still .ifurihei
strengthening the Anglo-French en=
tente.
