tons of ore were crushed., and 13,400
tons of sand and 45,087 tones of

profit in West A usralia of £11,939.
In addition, 3146 tons of accumu
lated slimes were treated, and . re
sulted in a working profit of £440.
Owing to the shortage of labour and
the expense of treating the oxidiied
ore in the mine under present. con
ditions, it was decided to discon
tinue running the mill in July last.
The north shaft was sunk. 35½ ft.
during the year. and the other de
velopments carried out in drives,
crosscuts: winzes, and rises amount
ed to 4286 ft. Four boreholes were
also put in with the diamond drill
during the year to test the con
tinuation of the ore body in depth;
the most important results ob
tained were the following :--No. 1
bore--From 481 ft. to 530 ft. (mea
sured on the dip) showed 47½ ft. of
ore, averaging 30/8 per ton. No.
2 bore--Cut 12 ft. of ore from 484 ft.
to 496 ft.,' averaging 57/5 per ton,
and from 592 ft. to 597 ft. a further
5 ft., averaging 46/10 per ton. No.

.tons averaging 26/2 ner ton, making
a total reserve of 48,690 tons, of a"
average., value of 31110 per ton. Iit

addition, there was stated to be a
very large tonnage of ore under
25/ per ton in value, which, how
ever, could not be figured on as be
King within the pa-able limit at the
present time. Extensive experi
ments are in hand, with the object
Sof evolving a 'process which will
treat the large bddies of .refractory
and sulphide ore in the mine at a
minimum cost, and .it is the opinion
..of the general managere-that a solu
tion of this problem. should be found.
before the further development of.,
the property is undertaken. At the.
