COTTESLOE BEACH R.S.L.
At the Cottesloe Beach Towu Hall on
Wednesday night the first annual smoke
social of the Cottesloe Beach eub-branch
of the Returned Soldiers' League was hold.
The president (Mr. G. L. Brown) occupied
the chair, and among the large crowd pre
sent were members of the State executive
of the league.
Responding' to the toast of 'The Navy,
Arm3r, and Air Force,' Colonel Flintoff
recalled a number of incidents connected
with the early militia force of the State.
He claimed that the voluntary system of
training was nhost effective and he asked
those present to do their best to urge
young men of their acquaintance to join
the volunteers.
Mr. E. Shaw, who proposed the toast of
the sub-branch, referred to the steady
growth of the league and the work it was
doing for returned men. In the past live
. years, he said, he had assisted at the for
mation of five new sub-branches.
