- LONDON, July 16.— During the gene
ral discussion following . the opening of
the conference of the Inter-Parliamentary
TTiiinTi fnn international bodv). an im
passioned speech in defence of the
Egyptian Parliament' was delivered by
Maitre Wissa Wassaf, bead of the Egyptian
delegation and a former President of the
Egyptian Chamber of Deputies. He declared
that^the Egyptian delegation which recently
visited Britain to negotiate a treaty repre
sented 90 per cent, of the population. He
maintained that government was impos
sible^ except with the consent of the go
verned, yet a dictatorship was imposed
on all Egypt. Egypt was proud of its
Parliament, yet overlords abolished Parlia
ment with military aid. This was sheer
lespotism. Nevertheless Egypt would re
spect her treaties.
