INDUSTRIAL.
Judges.— Bread: Messrs. J. Keely, W.
Reeves, and W. M. Campbell. Other
classes: Mr. R. Russell.

was an unsatisfactory feature of the indus
trial section The exhibits wei-p of good
quality, but disappointment was express
ed at the lack of competition. Xo entries
were received in the soap and candle sec
tion. This, it was pointed out had been
the position for some years. The brick
and washing soda .sections also did not at- 1
tract exhibitors. No entries were received j
in the polish section last year, but this i
year one firm exhibited. The schedule for
the preserves and pickles section was ar- 1
ranged in the hope that competition would
be keen as regards the number and quality
of the exhibits. Last year there were
three exhibitors. This year only one ex
hibitor displayed manufactures. One of
the stewards stated that evidently exhibit
ors had considered that exhibits were to
go on the show tables instead of in the
industrial section. Competition for tht
W.A. Flour Mill Owners' Association
Trophy in the bread class was keen. Ex
hibition was limited to members of the
Master Bakers' Association. Seventy-two
individual bakers exhibited. For a similar
trophy for country bakers 31 bakers com
peted.
