district;, was struck dead by ughtning last
«evening.
' Tooday an exciting scene occurred in the !
ÏDegislativ» Council! During the discussion
on the Licensed Victuallers Bill, Mr.E.Ward
said he would rather hare a daughter of
Ibis in « public bar, where the glare of
[public observance would be upon her, than
(he would see her employed as a chamber
onaid where Mr. Bussell might meet her.
! Mr. Bussell was rising to protest, when
ithe President called on Mr. Ward to with-
draw his statement and apologise.
' Mr. Ward said he would withdraw his
Remark, but he would not apologise.
AÖn ¿¡ba motion of the Chief Secretary,
the Council decided to suspend Mr. Ward
uuring the rest of the sitting.
Mr. Ward refused to leave the Chamber;
land tbs Sergeant -at-Arms was sent for.
1H© then objected to go without force, and
aa constable was called in and Mr. Ward
was removed.
ADELAIDE, November 3D.
In ithe local court to-day Mr. S. J>
Mitchell, solicitor, commenced an action
against Mr, &. W. Brookman for the re- '
bovary of JB205, the value of scrip and the
«detention of the same. j
It appears that 20 Great Boulder shares ;
were stolen from Mr. Mitchell's office safe, !
and Mt Brookman bought them from a j
eharebroker, not knowing that they were
Btolen..

Professor Watson, who was recently dis-"
missed from his position as honorary
surgeon and pathologist at the Adelaide
Hospital, has published an elaborate state-
ment of his phase of the hospital trouble
from his point of view, illustrated with
diagrams of operations performed by him,
and containing serious reflections on Dr.
Leith Napier and other members of the
hospital staff. This statement has been
sent to each member of the select oonuuit
tae now engaged in trying the issue in the
case, and it is marked " For the use of the
committee." Copies have also been freely
<distribnted elsewhere, and Professor
Watson asks that the pamphlet, which
would run into five or six ordinary nows- j
paper columns, shall be read as part of his
forthcoming evidence. Big type and
italics have been used to emphasise
particular parts of the document.
