There ls .little or no oarage \t repost in
prices, bat distributing demands remain fairly
active 'fjr BPa-paabla goodt, and the greater
variety of these nov offered to the publio in
s «Vitral branches of trade is very notice«

the pnblio, cherrie?, strawberries, goose-
berries, apricots, figs and ot ier fruits having
found th«ir way int) this market in qua' titics
quire unkaowu in previous season--. In the
produce market, we learn from our Northam
correspondent that chaff is being b rona ht
forward in immense quantities, and that it is
considered that the stock from that district
will be suffiuient to supply fie want* <>f tbs
goldfie'd«. Wheat is also oom¡nv in, I ut ia
limited quantities only, the bulk of the crop,
as w>> have previously mentioned, having been
cut for hay. In liquids a good enquiry exists
f r wines and beers, and tho same may be
said with regard to grooers aad oilmen's goods.

properties were submitted in pursuanci of an

th<j b'dding« spirited. The two prinzipal lot ,
namely No 5, consis'ing of the south eastern

frontage cf 75 links to Hay-street, ant a

Murray-street, wa* Bold as one block, bein*
finally knooked down to Messrs. Connor &
Quinlan for ¿7,100. Tha build-ngs on the
ground were of little value, and the price
may practically be regarded as for unimproved
property, and for so important a position is
generally considered m »der .ta. The remain-
der of the lots offered, four in number, prin-
cipally suburban blocks, all found buyers a*;
satislaotory prices.
Tho first ordinary general mooting of tl e
Swan Elver Shipping Company, Lim'tad. wa«
held on Tuesday last, at the Stock Exclu n;e
of Perth, Sir George Shenton in the ctiHtr.
There was a large attendance of sharon*1 i< rs.
The principal business before the meeting was
the election of three directors, which resulted
in Messrs. G. Randell, M.L.A., T. W. Hard-
wick and Neil McNeil being unanimously
chosen to fill the positions. As will be seen
from the advertisement in onr shipping*
columns, the directors contemplate adding
'considerably to the existing facilities for the
handling of imports for Perth and the country
towna. A noticeable feature also-and one
