FATAL ACCIDENT ON THE
WANNEROO ROAD.

A MAN KILLED.
Aa accident happened un the Wanneroo
Road on Sunday which resulted in the death
of a man named James Lloyd. On Saturday
night John Buckingham reported at the City
Police Station that he and James Lloyd left
Perth ia a cart for Wanneroo at about 3
o'clock in the afternoon. Buckingham was driv
ing, and it appears that Lloyd was lying on
some packages in tho cart. When nearing
the seven mile well Lloyd slipped off the oarb
and the wheel passed over his chest severely
crashing him. It is stated that Lloyd, who
is an old resident of Wanneroo and is under*
stood to have considerable means, was nader
the influence of drink at the time. After the
accident Buckingham returned to Perth and
reported tho matter to the police. Lloyd was
taken by the polios to the Clarendon Hotel,
where he was attended by Dr. Mcwilliams.
He was, however, too severely tnjared to re
cover and succumbed to his injuries at 4
o'cloob yesterday morning. Yesterday Mr.
Cowan decided to hold aa official enquiry into
the circumstances, and an inquest was opened
at the Police Court at noon. After viewing
the body, the Coroner's Conrt adjourned until
Thursday next.
